Building Official/Emergency Manager: Greg Butler
The Building and Safety Department is comprised of four divisions:
- Building - The Building Division is responsible for the issuance of building permits, administration and enforcement of building codes and ordinances for construction, and use and occupancy within the City of La Quinta.
- Code Compliance - The Code Compliance Division administers a program that enforces property maintenance standards, land use, zoning, abandoned vehicles, and building regulations.
- Animal Control - The Animal Control Division provides field services, enforces animal licensing and leash laws, investigates animal abuse reports and barking/aggressive dogs, and nuisance complaints.
- Emergency Services - The Emergency Services Division is responsible for the City and community’s preparation and response to natural and manmade disasters and emergencies.
Together they promote and maintain standards that protect the safety and property of residents, businesses, and visitors to our community.
The Building and Safety Department provides public counter assistance Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fridays. We welcome your visit, or you can contact us at one of the phone numbers or e-mail addresses below.
