THE CITY OF LA QUINTA IS LOOKING FOR NEW COMMISSION MEMBERS

The City of La Quinta is looking for interested citizens to fill vacancies on the following Commissions and Boards. Applicants must be a resident of the City in most cases, and a registered voter.

 
Building and Construction Appeals Board – Determines the suitability of alternate materials and methods of installation. The Board meets on an as-needed basis at City Hall  There is one opening for a structural engineer or architect with building experience and training. No term limit.

Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District - The CVMVCD is a special district whose mission is to reduce the risk of disease transmission by mosquitoes and other vectors for residents and visitors of the Coachella Valley. There is one opening for a member to serve a four-year term.

Historic Preservation Commission – Advises the Planning Commission on matters relating to identification, protection, retention and preservation of historic areas and sites. Three members are professionals in architecture, history, architectural history, planning, or other historic preservation-related disciplines. Two members are lay-persons who have demonstrated special interest, competence, experience or knowledge in historic preservation-related disciplines. The Commission meets on the third Thursday of every month at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall.  There is one opening for a Professional position for a term of three years.  Non-residents may apply for the Professional position.

Housing Commission - Reviews and makes recommendations to the Housing Authority regarding housing policy procedures, proposals, and programs. The Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month on an as needed basis at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.  There are two openings for tenants of the Housing Authority, one tenant member shall be age 62+; each position is for a two-year term.

Imperial Irrigation District Energy Consumers Advisory Committee (ECAC) - The committee acts in an advisory capacity to the board recommending actions on a variety of topics, including budget needs, capital expenditures and pilot program needs.  There is one opening for a member to serve a four-year term.

Interested persons may fill out and submit an application at www.la-quinta.org/commissions or contact the City Clerk to have an application mailed to you. The application period is open-ended on all with the exception of the ECAC and the CVMVCD. Contact the City Clerk department at 760-777-7103 for additional information.

The deadline to submit applications for the ECAC and the CVMVCD is Friday November 30, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.  Interviews are scheduled for  Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
