City of La Quinta: Gem of the Desert

The City of La Quinta Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (R.A.C.E.S.) is a local organization sponsored by the City of La Quinta.  It consists of federally licensed amateur radio operators specifically trained to handle emergency disaster communications for the City with agencies such as Police, Fire, and Public Works, as well as with public service organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army.  All members of R.A.C.E.S. are registered through the City of La Quinta as State of California Volunteer Disaster Workers.

The City of La Quinta R.A.C.E.S. group remains active and prepared during non-emergency situations by providing radio communications in support of community events where the safety of the participating general public can be affected.

The La Quinta R.A.C.E.S. team meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the La Quinta City Hall Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

For further information, please call the Emergency Services Coordinator at (760) 777-7061.
