La Quinta Wants to Help You Save Energy, Money, and the Environment!
Saving energy can help you save money, and it's good for the environment. Using energy-efficient products and services and conserving, whenever possible, helps to preserve natural resources for future generations. Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) and Imperial Irrigation District (IID) offer a number of programs and services that can help you take the first step to a greener future.
Home Energy Efficiency Audit
As part of the City’s energy partnership with Imperial Irrigation District, La Quinta residents enjoy many programs including a home energy audit. These energy efficiency audits provide valuable money saving recommendations for residents resulting in low-cost and no-cost recommendations that can be put to use right away. As part of the site visit, Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL’s) are given to the home owner to get them started.
A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient. An assessment will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time. Please visit the Imperial Irrigation District website to schedule an energy audit.

Benchmarking for Energy Efficiency
“Benchmarking,” used in the context of energy efficiency, is a comparison of a facility’s level of energy efficiency with that of similar facilities nationwide. It allows building owners and managers to track and assess the energy performance of their buildings. Visit www.socalgas.com and search “Benchmarking” for more details on this program.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) now requires some customers to benchmark their facilities before participating in the energy-efficiency programs of Southern California Gas Company. A Portfolio Manager allows you to input energy-related information about your building, such as energy use for the past 12 months, square footage and occupancy. The system automatically updates the information every month, allowing you to track your building’s energy performance over time. In addition, the Portfolio Manager also provides other information that helps you manage more than energy efficiency.
