
Development of housing in La Quinta is guided by the goals, objectives, and policies of the Housing Element in the City’s General Plan. The overall intent of the Housing Element is to provide safe and decent housing for all parts of the community. The City of La Quinta provides housing ranging from apartments to large, single family homes. In addition, the City's development standards provide for affordable sale and rental housing for lower income households requiring special needs.

AB 987 Database
The La Quinta Affordable Housing Database is published annually, in accordance with the requirements of California State Legislature AB 987. The database describes existing, new and substantially rehabilitated housing developed or otherwise assisted with moneys from the Low and Moderate Income Housing Fund.
