Election Information
La Quinta is a general law city governed by the Mayor and four City Council Members. The Mayor is elected at large for a two-year term, and the City Council Members are elected for a four-year term. A General Municipal Election is held on the first Tuesday of November in every even-numbered year. The next General Municipal Election will be held on November 4, 2014. The City Clerk serves as the Election Official and is responsible for issuance and acceptance of nomination papers, filing campaign and conflict of interest statements, and the publication of necessary legal notices.
VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION
You may register to vote if you meet the following criteria:
- You are a United States citizen
- You are a resident of California
- You are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)
- You are not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony
- You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote
Voter Registration forms are available at most of the following locations throughout Riverside County:
- Post Office
- Library
- City and County offices
- Department of Motor Vehicles
